Transforming the World of Technology in 2018

Google searches have reached an astounding 4.5 billion each day - 45 times the amount of searches recorded daily in 2006. With so many people relying on the internet these days, the information highway has to keep up faster than ever before.

The significant numbers that are driving technology to move forward are the amounts of data created each day. With everything from photographs and organization to businesses becoming increasingly digitized, more data has been created in the past two years than anything previously combined. So how is technology in 2018 prepared to increase the user experience?

A.I.

Although still a new science with more than a few bumps in the road, artificial intelligence is a highly sought after research field for businesses. With start-up companies focusing on AI applications, businesses are pouring money into developing this potential way of automation for their websites, phone calls and social media. The human race is indeed in no danger of being replaced just yet - AI is a very new field with plenty of human employees needed just to keep it running.

Better Security

Those 2.5 quintillion bytes of data being created each day have to be protected, as our day to day lives require more use of personal information online. It seems a day doesn’t go by that some significant breach of personal information for a major site is the headline news. However, don’t start burying your money in jars just yet. Cybersecurity is becoming a more focused field instead of the afterthought it once was, but we still have a long way to go. Due diligence on the part of corporations and consumers is needed to keep our personal information safe.

Technology Within Objects

Technology is no longer limited to a computer but is in everything from smart cars to smart homes. With the development of AI growing, being able to control everything via technology is where most of the funding is going in the next few years. We’ll see more hands-free voice control, computer controlled traffic and even the development of mass-produced self-driving cars. Taking human error out of these activities could be a major factor in increasing safety or security in the near future.

Digital Transformation

Not a technology advancement, but a tool to help advance technology, digital transformation is being introduced by those in charge of digitizing companies to secure funding. It’s all about the numbers for these presentations, and by presenting an idea that will not only generate more revenue but also save some money in the long run, it’s easy for digital transformation to sound like a no-brainer to investors.
