Home Telecom Community Connect Customers Get a Boost in Speed
MONCKS CORNER, SC August 9, 2021 — Home Telecom wants to make sure families with school-aged children have affordable, quality high speed internet service to complete their schoolwork at home. In that spirit, Home Telecom announced they are boosting the internet speed from 10 Mbps to 25 Mbps for families who reenroll in their Community Connect program for the 2021-2022 school year.
Home Telecom’s Community Connect program has been offering qualifying families with students, kindergarten through 12th grade, with high-speed internet service for just $9.95 per month. The significant increase in the speed offered to 25 Mbps will not come with a price increase. Community Connect includes MyWiFi, unlimited internet access, eight email addresses, 24/7 technical support, and Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Internet Security. Furthermore, qualifying families pay no activation or equipment fees.
As far back as 2011, predating the coronavirus outbreak, Home Telecom realized there was a growing need among school-aged children to access the internet for a variety of school-related activities. Although grade schools had not yet gone virtual, students were finding extracurricular help online with things like tutoring and asking teachers and classmates questions and getting help with homework. Some schools were even developing short-term backup plans for online learning in the event of emergencies and natural disasters.
This idea of the virtual classroom, or at least some limited online learning was already trending before the pandemic, therefore Home Telecom developed the Community Connect program to ensure low-income households had access to an affordable internet connection to keep up with these trends.
With the education of our young students at stake, Home Telecom’s decision to more than double the current speed offering for Community Connect is part of their commitment to leave no one behind when it comes to internet accessibility. Home Telecom wants to ensure all families have enough bandwidth to keep students in K-12th grade learning, regardless of their financial situation.
