115 Years Young, Home Telecom Hits Its Stride in Services & Economic Growth

MONCKS CORNER, SC February 22, 2019 – Moving at a speed demanded by high technology, Home Telecom is seeing their 115th Anniversary as more than just another centenarian birthday. With a long-term strategy for doubling their current customer-base by late 2022, Home Telecom is announcing the first phase of their new corporate leadership structure, put in place to help them achieve those goals; and expansion plans for a new building opening by the end of this year.

Effective January 1, Keith Oliver became Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Home Telecom. Oliver served as Accounting Manager and Senior Vice President of Corporate Operations prior to becoming CFO and Executive VP.

Also, in the financial department, Alan Smoak will act as the Director of Finance and Controller, overseeing the company’s finance and accounting functions. He has been with Home Telecom since 1996.

Three directors have risen to the level of Vice President, including Bob Abbott, Vice President of Engineering. He will be responsible for all engineering functions of the company including outside plant engineering, network planning, mapping, and directing activities during network problems or disasters.

Debra Ford is now Vice President of Customer Operations, responsible for all activities for Home Telecom’s three business offices, including directing the technical support, installation, and repair crews for the Summerville and Daniel Island communities.

Gina Shuler is now the Vice President of Marketing, responsible for product development and the promotion of all products and services to the various customer segments. She is also responsible for the management of Home Telecom’s brand, and all public relations.

“All Home Telecom senior team members will play a vital role in helping us meet our corporate goals over the next three years,” says Home Telecom President and CEO, William Helmly. “I issued a New Year’s challenge to leadership to take up the company’s long-held visionary mantle and to start thinking strategically about how Home Telecom can bring these goals to fruition.”

Home Telecom will be releasing a bevy of company growth announcements, including expansion plans in the coming weeks that will strengthen their legacy as a technology leader throughout the Lowcountry and across the state. Home Telecom has purchased land on Nexton Parkway and will begin construction during the second quarter of 2019. They expect to move into the new building by the end of the year.

It should be noted that only a half percent of all small businesses nationwide remains operational for more than 100 years in the United States. Home Telecom points to the company’s unwavering focus on the future and the technology that drives it, as their anchor. Home Telecom as a foundational community leader who for 115 years, has pioneered technology that improves the lives of Lowcountry residents and business owners. There is no reason to believe age will slow them down!
